JACKSON, Wyo. — Catch a free screening of documentary The Librarians on Tuesday, courtesy of the Teton County Library Foundation & Friends, Better Wyoming and the Jackson Hole International Film Festival.

The doc follows librarians and supporters around the country fighting for First Amendment rights in the face of unprecedented rates of book banning, according to the Teton County Library’s event announcement. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year.

“Here in Wyoming, Draft Bill HB0010 (to be considered by the Wyoming House in early 2026) targets library books for ‘sexually explicit’ content, and if passed could have detrimental effects on public and school libraries across our state,” the announcement states.

The screening will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Center for the Arts. Free tickets are available here. Immediately following the film, a panel discussion will address the potential impact of the bill in Teton County as it pertains to intellectual freedom and information access in addition to potential legal and financial impacts on librarians.

The next day, the library and Better Wyoming will host a free community advocacy workshop for those who want to take action. The workshop will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the library’s auditorium.
