WYOMING — Yet another Republican has announced a campaign to fill Wyoming’s lone U.S. House of Representatives seat as Harriet Hageman departs it.
John Romero-Martinez has thrown his hat in the ring. The Laramie County Republican served in the state legislature from 2021-2022, representing District 44 in the state House of Representatives. While in the position, he served on the House committee for Labor, Health and Social Services, and on its committee for Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs. He also lists five years with the United States Air Force National Guard on his resume.
“I am not a career politician, I am a normal guy that wants to minister in my community, for more than the status, or the money, but to strive to be a Representative of God, by the authority of my baptism, at all levels – for His inalienable rights of life, liberty, property, and happiness,” his campaign website states. “I am running to correctly address huge gaps in the labor code. Too many families are still [working] paycheck to paycheck and even worse, predatory temporary agencies that abuse and misuse the poor in order to make a buck needs to be reined in.“
Under the website heading “My Top Issues,” Romero-Martinez writes, “100% Pro-Life is defending life from the womb to the tomb. This includes defending the pre-born, the lives of mothers, families, and the elderly.”
Romero-Martinez is the ninth Republican to announce a campaign in this race. He joins: Wyoming Senate President Bo Biteman, Casper veterans David Giralt and Kevin Christensen, current Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray, entrepreneur Reid Rasner, former State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow, Pinedale resident Matt McGinnis and Moran rancher Frank Chapman. The primary election will take place on Aug. 18.
