JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club (JHSC) has been coaching and preparing athletes for the national stage for more than 80 years.

This time, Will Wicherski, the Nordic program director for JHSC, was recognized as the Cross Country Development Coach of the Year at the 2025 U.S. Ski & Snowboard (USSS) annual Congress in Park City, Utah. USSS is the national governing body for Olympic and Paralympic skiing and snowboarding.

In a statement, USSS praised Wicherski for his “exceptional leadership and commitment to growing the sport. … Under Will’s guidance, the Jackson Hole Ski Club has grown both in size and competitive strength, solidifying his status as a key figure in cross country development.”

Wicherski grew up in Boise, Idaho, and has many years of experience as a Nordic athlete and coach, including a stint living and competing in Norway. He began coaching at JHSC in 2016, and took over as Nordic program director in 2020. This year, the Nordic program will graduate three student-athletes who plan to attend and compete at Division 1 NCAA colleges.

“This award is great to receive, and I feel very grateful for the recognition,” said Wicherski after being selected as Coach of the Year. He continued by acknowledging the other Nordic coaches and athletes who have contributed to the program over the last five years. “It shows that the whole country is paying attention to the incredible and special program with the Nordic community we have in Jackson Hole, along with the good work we are all doing on behalf of the athletes.”

According to the announcement, Wicherski is dedicated to creating a fun, inclusive team culture where athletes can push their limits and grow both on and off the snow. His coaching has contributed to standout performances by JHSC participants over the years, and he was the national U16 camp coordinator in 2024, among many other credentials.
