WILSON, Wyo. – Feb. 17 will be the last day for Hungry Jack’s General Store before it closes for renovation until mid-June.

The popular general store and gathering spot was purchased in January by Hungry Jack’s Company, a recently formed coalition of 210 community investors determined to save the historic business by buying all of its 300 shares for $25,000 per individual share. Hungry Jack’s has been open since 1954, originally in the building where Nora’s is now before moving across the street a few years later.

Hungry Jack’s will have free treats available from Wild Flour Bakery on Feb. 16 and 17 to celebrate the cooperative ownership and improvements to come. After Feb. 17, Hungry Jack’s will be closed for at least four months for remodeling.

“We’re going to keep the Hungry Jack’s feel,” Stephen Fralin, the general manager, says of what people can expect of the renovations.

The staple wooden shelving and wood walls will stay the same, but there will be an updated layout of the store. The grocery line will be expanded with additional refrigeration and an improved meat selection to provide a viable option for grocery shoppers in the valley.

As of now, the employees who are familiar faces to many in town will be the same when Hungry Jack’s reopens in the summer.

“You’ll be well covered,” Fralin reassures customers.

Hungry Jack’s will be open Thursday and Friday for regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
