Update: 3 p.m.: Power to the transmitter is restored.
Update: 2:25 p.m.: The electricity to KHOL’s power room was found to be turned off due to work Lower Valley Energy is conducting on Snow King mountain.
Neither American Tower, the company KHOL leases the transmission tower from, or KHOL was informed of the planned power outage.
JACKSON, Wyo. — A power outage that occurred last night, July 14, is thought to have knocked out the transmitter used by KHOL/Jackson Hole Community Radio to broadcast on FM station 89.1.
Emily Cohen executive director of KHOL, is currently headed up to the top of Snow King to troubleshoot the transmitter that is used to broadcast to the greater Jackson Hole valley.
Currently, KHOL is broadcasting from a backup transmitter on the Center for the Arts building where the station is housed.
“The backup transmitter was fixed at around 11:30 a.m this morning,” Cohen said.
Listeners in the town of Jackson should be able to hear the broadcast on 89.1 but outside of the town, it might be static. Cohen explained that the backup transmitter has a pretty far reach, it is currently reaching listeners near Rafter J.
While the station figures out what has happened, community members can listen live via the website.
