JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Buckrail is looking further into a story of another elk hunter who shot and killed a grizzly bear after it reportedly charged and mauled him yesterday in the lower Gros Ventre Wilderness/Shoal Creek WSA.
Tim McIntire, of Casper, Wyo., says he was attacked by a grizzly bear while elk hunting. The former law enforcement officer was able to get off one shot from a 7mm firearm that killed the bear.
Wyoming Game and Fish communications director Renny MacKay said his department is assisting US Fish and Wildlife Service on two recent incidents—one in the Pinedale area, and another near Dubois.
