JACKSON Wyo. — A construction site on the corner of East Kelly and Vine Street in East Jackson was recently vandalized with a spray-painted message reading “Why does our well-being depend on the philanthropy of the rich??”

The message was spray painted on the side of the 8,000-square-foot house built initially for Richard Grubman, who passed away in 2019, but is still being constructed to house Grubman’s valuable art collection. This comes around the same time that a piece by CBS News chronicled Teton County’s wealth disparity. The story claims it to be the wealthiest, and most unequal county in America, with a medium income of average income here is $312,000 and a median home price of more than $3.6 million.

Jackson Hole Police (JPD) Lt. Russ Ruschill commented “just because a person feels a certain way politically, doesn’t mean they’re allowed to commit an act of vandalism.”

“If the political artist would like to turn themselves in, that would be awesome,” said Ruschill.
