A message from Teton Habitat:

JACKSON, Wyo. — What if a day outside with your friends or coworkers could help a local family move into their first home?

In our valley defined by beauty – and increasingly, by housing challenges – Teton Habitat is building more than just homes. We’re building self-reliance, stability, and community, one volunteer shift at a time.

Founded in 1995, Teton Habitat is the only housing nonprofit in the region dedicated to providing truly affordable homeownership opportunities for individuals and families earning between 30–80% of the Median Family Income (MFI). Our work isn’t just about construction; it’s about collaboration. Every wall raised and window installed is made possible by the generous hands of local volunteers who believe in a stronger, more inclusive Teton County.

Volunteering with Teton Habitat offers more than just a chance to lend a hand. It’s a powerful way to shape the future of our community. Whether you’re swinging a hammer, painting a wall, helping at the ReStore, or organizing a lunch drop-off for the build team, your time and effort help lay the foundation for someone’s future. And did we mention? No previous experience is required!

“I’ve been seeing more and more groups volunteering with us,” says Jason Bruni, Teton Habitat’s Development Manager. “Even folks who’ve never volunteered before are showing up ready to work. It’s amazing to see how deeply our community cares about solving the housing crisis. Every day, I meet people who are giving their time not just because they can, but because they believe everyone in Jackson deserves a place to call home.”

TEAMBuilds are a great way to get involved, especially for local businesses, clubs, and civic organizations looking to make a meaningful impact together. These full-day volunteer experiences foster connection, boost morale, and directly support the construction of homes for hardworking locals. It’s a team-building experience with lasting purpose.

When you help build with Teton Habitat, you’re working side-by-side with future homeowners: teachers, healthcare workers, librarians, and others who keep our community running. These are your neighbors, and they’re investing their own “sweat equity” into the homes they will one day own.

With 43% of families in our region qualifying for a Habitat home, the need is urgent, and growing. But so is the impact. Together, we’re not just building homes. We’re creating a cycle of opportunity, resilience, and belonging that strengthens the fabric of our valley. And we invite you to be part of it!

Volunteer with Teton Habitat, and help build the future of our community: one home, one family, one shift at a time. Visit tetonhabitat.org/volunteer to learn more and sign up.
