JACKSON, Wyo. — Save the date for one of the winter’s best parties — the Eighth Annual Blacktail Bash at the National Museum of Wildlife Art on Saturday, Feb. 24.
Don the fanciest attire for an artful evening at the Museum. Mix, mingle and enjoy drinks and heavy hors d’oeuvres at this masquerade-themed event. Artwork from the Museum vault will be on view for one night only. Attendees will participate in two rounds of voting, selecting pieces to go on view in the coming year. After competitive voting, last year’s attendees selected “Lament” by Allan Houser and “Rabbit (After Durer)” by John Nieto as the 2023 winners.
Attendees at this year’s event will be voting on the following pieces: “Butterfly” by Albert Bierstadt, “Borealis” by Raven Skyriver, “Ruppert Eagle” by Harriet Whitney Frishmuth, “The Light of a Gray Day” by Lars Jonsson, “Playground” by Laney, “Moose and Mountains” by John Schoenherr and “Attempt to Hang On” by Ajay Brainard. Seize the chance to be a curator for the night.
“This event allows the public to have an important voice in the curation of our collection, and also provides a behind-the-scenes look at artwork, some of which has never been formally on view at the Museum,” says Museum Director Steve Seamons. “It’s also a fun and meaningful way to involve the public in directed giving, allowing people to choose what their ticket purchase supports within the Museum,” he adds. The proceeds from this event will support all of the Museum’s programs. In addition to voting on artwork from the collection, participants will each receive one directed giving chip to support the cause of their choice within the Museum.
Early bird tickets are on sale now through Feb. 6 at $140 for a single ticket or $260 for a pair. Pending availability, ticket prices will increase on Feb. 7, until the event sells out.
The theme of this event is masquerade and black-tie attire is optional. Venetian masks are highly encouraged. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served from Palate and music will be provided by DJ VerT-OnE. This event is presented by Jackson Hole Jewelry Co. with additional support provided by The Bomb Sommelier, Pure Madness Brewery Group, Canvas Unlimited, Mountaineer Bourbon and Palate.
