UPDATE, Jan. 28: The deceased skier has been identified as Kenneth E. Fait by Teton County Coroner Brent Blue. The cause of death has yet to be released.

TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — An 81-year-old skier died on Saturday, Jan. 25, after a fall on Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s (JHMR) Sun Dog trail, according to an announcement by the resort.

JHMR shared that Jackson Hole Ski Patrol was notified at 9:13 a.m. of an unconscious skier on Sun Dog who had been skiing alone. Patrol arrived on the scene at 9:15 a.m., initiating the transport of the skier to the St. John’s Clinic in Teton Village. He was then transferred to St. John’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased, JHMR said.

“No other individuals were involved in the accident,” JHMR’s statement reads.

No further information has been released regarding the skier’s identity or cause of death.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time,” JHMR CEO Mary Kate Buckley said in a statement.
