Sweetwater Restaurant closes its doors after four decades Knit On Pearl Sweetwater Restaurant Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Buckrail has learned that Sweetwater Restaurant has closed for good. Owner and executive chef Trey Davis confirmed the restaurant he’s operated since 1999 has shuttered.

Davis said he could no longer put in the hours required after recent back surgery. He’s often stated in the past that he spends 12-13 hours a day in the kitchen. Help has always been difficult for him to find as well, prompting the Louisiana native to run for county commissioner in 2016 on a pro-affordable housing platform.

The restaurant on the corner of King and Pearl has been consistently popular with tourists and locals, alike, serving affordable lunch and dinner plates. Davis tried breakfast for a brief time earlier in the summer but discontinued that after long. Sweetwater has been listed for sale off and on for years.

The building Sweetwater is housed in is a historic one with a colorful past. It is a designee of Historical Significance for the Coe Cabin as presented by The Teton County Historical Trust and Preservation. The cabin was built by Martha and Clarence Dow in 1915. Longtime locals Ed and Emily Coe operated a blacksmith shop out of the cabin for many years in the early 1900s.

Sweetwater has operated as a restaurant for more than 40 years. A sale of various items associated with the restaurant is already underway.
