WILSON, Wyo. — A large portion of the Stilson parking lot has been paved and striped, and is almost ready for winter ski traffic.
Town of Jackson Assistant Public Works Director Johnny Ziem told Buckrail that the crews made a big push to make sure they were able to provide as much parking as possible for ski season, per the agreement with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. According to a Facebook update, the northeast portion of the lot contains 179 parking spaces and 10 ADA spots.
“It was a big race against the weather,” Ziem said.
Contractors are currently working on a plan to provide an access route for pedestrians from the parking area to the existing bus stop. Ziem said it will be fenced off for safety purposes and will likely be the last thing constructed before winter arrives. Teton Village Association will be responsible for plowing the parking lot. The newly paved lot is tentatively set to open Nov. 17.

The other half of the Stilson lot will be used as a staging area while construction workers pivot to focus on closing in the two structures before the snow hits. The priority now is getting the walls up and the roofs on the transit facility and the bike parking structure so that work can continue inside throughout the winter. Ziem said that the project is generally on schedule, though the cold months pose the greatest risk as far as exposure to weather impacts.
