JACKSON, Wyo. — Ready to get hooked on fishing?

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) will host its annual, free Kids Fishing Day events across the state on Saturday, June 7. In Jackson, the event will be held at R Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Expect learning stations and a free hot dog lunch.

Kids will be provided with a complimentary fishing rod to use at the ponds. Educators will be on hand to teach fishing skills. There will also be a scavenger hunt including educational activities about fish, aquatic life, boating, river safety and more. Plus, a raffle!

In Afton, the Golf Course Pond will host the event from 8 a.m. to noon. In Pinedale, head to Dudley Key Fields Pond starting at 10 a.m. See the full list of events here.

Kids aren’t the only ones who can get in on the angling fun on Saturday. June 7 also marks the state’s Free Fishing Day, when anyone can fish in Wyoming without a license or conservation stamp (excluding waters in Yellowstone National Park and the Wind River Reservation). All other fishing regulations and limits remain in effect. See those in the Wyoming fishing regulations booklet.

To celebrate the occasion, day-use fees will be waived at all parks, historic sites and recreational areas managed by Wyoming State Parks that offer fishing opportunities. See the State Parks website for details.
