PINEDALE, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kemmerer and Pinedale field offices are seeking volunteers for the national Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey. Surveys will take place on Friday, Jan. 9, in Kemmerer and Saturday, Jan. 10, in Pinedale.
Every year since 1979, federal and state agencies have conducted a January survey to count bald eagles throughout the United States. Through monitoring trends, an index of the total winter population in the lower 48 states will be established.
Those interested in volunteering should contact the field office by Wednesday, Jan. 7, to be assigned survey routes along public roads in Sublette and Lincoln Counties. This year, the Kemmerer field office has also added an additional route in the Star Valley area of Lincoln County.
For the Pinedale field office, contact Theresa Gulbrandson at (307) 367-5359.
For the Kemmerer field office, contact David Merz at (307) 828-4556.
