Wyoming ranked 7th most patriotic state in the U.S.

JACKSON, Wyo, — With Fourth of July on the horizon, a report produced by WalletHub  shows that Wyoming is ready to celebrate American independence.

Ranked the 7th most patriotic state in the U.S., statistics indicate that Wyomingites demonstrate a distinct love for one’s country.

To determine where citizens have the most American pride, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 13 key indicators of patriotism. Their data set ranges from the state’s military enlistees and veterans to the share of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election to AmeriCorps volunteers per capita. In the report produced by financial writer Adam McCann, the following were rankings were determined of Wyoming:

  • 22nd – Average Number of Military Enlistees per 1,000 Civilian Adults
  • 14th – Active-Duty Military Personnel per 100,000 Civilian Adults
  • 30th – Percentage of Adults Who Voted in 2020 Presidential Election
  • 23rd – Volunteer Rate
  • 4th – Veterans per 1,000 Civilian Adults
  • 1st – Civics Education Requirement
  • 23rd – Volunteer Hours per Resident

This year Independence Day may strike a different chord for many Americans. In the past year, citizens have paid witness to injustices across the country that may have dampened their patriotism. It will also be one of the first holidays in which American’s are able to collectively gather.

“Many people may find it hard to celebrate a country in which racist incidents persist. However, an expression of love for fellow citizens is patriotic in itself,” said writer Adam McCann.

He added that for some, remaining patriotic during a time of crisis wasn’t always an easy task.

“These troubles come on the heels of another crisis that has made it difficult to have big displays of patriotism: the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we can be proud of the researchers who made the vaccine possible,” said McCann.
