JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The valley’s ‘dry run’ for winter has not gone smoothly. The first hint of what is to come, came overnight and the result was everything from power outages to Pass pileups. The Chain Law is currently (noon) in place on Teton Pass.
Teton Pass closed briefly this morning as commuters struggled to find their winter footing. Several minor accidents and slide-offs were reported. Big O Tires and Shervins both report brisk business today as valley motorists look to get winter tires on.
Lower Valley Energy said they are dealing with snow-loaded power lines causing outages north and south of town. Brian Tanabe said crews have been working on a few hotspots all morning.
The wintry weather has only just begun. The National Weather Service is calling for a Winter Weather Advisory today while snow or a rain-snow mix is on tap through the weekend.
