What’s cooking? This crew is, and how!

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Broncs Culinary Team is state champs. The kitchen crew took home top honors in Culinary as well as Professional Baking at the Wyoming ProStart Invitational sponsored by the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association. They also placed second in Restaurant Management.

Next up for the high school chefs and bakers is Nationals in Providence, Rhode Island on April 27-29, 2018.

Examples of the award winning dishes prepared for the Wyoming ProStart Invitational this week:

Culinary: 1st Place
Sam Lima, Santiago Montiel-Juarez, Jennifer Lopez, Said Jimenez, Brayan Perez

Professional Baking: 1st Place
Katya Flores, Jasmin Nava Moreno

Restaurant Management: 2nd Place
Katie Lewis, Morana Lunquiest, Sarah Sampson

The culinary team defended their 2017 state title by expertly preparing 3 courses in one hour using only 2 gas burners and no electricity or refrigeration. The baking team prepared 2 breads, a show cake, and demonstrated a variety cake decorating techniques; while the Management team created a business plan for a restaurant and presented it to several panels of judges.

The state titles are a fantastic win for JHHS, but even more exciting are the culinary and hospitality school scholarships that our students won at the event: $235,000 was awarded to our exceptionally talented and hardworking Broncs.

The event is sponsored by the National Restaurant Association and is the premier competition for high school students around the country.
