Skies will be mostly cloudy throughout the day on Tuesday with occasional light rain showers expected. We could also see a thunderstorm at some point as the atmosphere is modestly unstable. Highs will reach the upper 50s to low 60s in the valley with west/southwest winds gusting to 25 mph in the valley this afternoon and up to 40 mph in the mountains.
A cold front will arrive around sunset this evening, which will lead to a round of more numerous showers during the evening along with falling snow levels that could dip as low as 6,500-7,000 ft. before precipitation tapers off later in the night. Higher elevations could pick up an inch or two of snow tonight.
Wednesday will be cooler with only a slight chance of a shower in the morning before more widespread showers arrive during the afternoon. Highs on Wednesday will only reach the low 50s in the valley with west/southwest winds gusting to 25 mph (up to 35-40 mph in the mountains) making for a chilly day. Shower activity will linger into the evening before decreasing overnight. The higher elevations could pick up another inch or two of snow on Wednesday.
A low pressure system will move across the area on Thursday and Friday, resulting in a few rounds of more widespread rain showers (and mountain snow showers) from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening with chilly temperatures persisting both days. The rain/snow line will be around 7,500-8,500 ft. during the days and as low as 6,500-7,000 ft. during the nights/mornings. On Saturday, we will dry out with warmer temperatures and increasing sunshine.
