UW student from Jackson reports COVID vaccination, wins football pregame access pass

JACKSON, Wyo. —  A University of Wyoming student from Jackson was awarded a football pregame access pass for reporting her COVID-19 vaccination, according to a report from the University on Thursday.

Maddy Jenkins, a senior kinesiology major will get a close-up look at the pregame festivities of a University of Wyoming (UW) football game after winning the third in a series of weekly drawings for UW students who’ve reported being vaccinated for COVID-19.

Jenkins won the pregame field access pass after her name was drawn from the pool of students who’ve reported their COVID vaccinations on the Student Health Service patient portal.

While not required, UW has encouraged COVID-19 vaccinations for its students.

The University will offer a $300 weekly cash prize and a grand prize for two winners, covering up to $4,500 in tuition and fees. It will be drawn for the fall semester, one the week of Aug. 23 and the other the week of Sept. 27.

Additionally, five students will each win the prize of a dinner for six with President Ed Seidel and his partner, Gabrielle Allen, at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Also included will be catered dinners with Provost and Executive Vice President Kevin Carman, along with Associated Students of UW President Hunter Swilling.

Jenkins expressed her excitement as the winner of the access pass.

“I am excited to get the pregame field access pass to hang out on the sidelines during the pregame festivities,” said Jenkins, who decided to be vaccinated “so that I could travel and hang out with friends without putting anyone at risk of getting COVID.”

She cited the process of reporting her vaccination to the University as a seamless experience.

“I found that reporting my vaccine to UW was a super easy process that took me less than five minutes,” she said. “I would recommend getting vaccinated so that we can go back to normal university life.”
