Tram will stay closed, Gondola will open at JHMR

JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Mountain Resort announced adjusted summer operations that account for health and safety measures in the age of COVID-19.

The Aerial Tram will not open this summer due to social distancing guidelines, and will instead undergo extensive maintenance originally scheduled for 2021.

“This maintenance is quite extensive — and work that we have been planning for some time,” said Tim Mason, vice president of operations. “We were able to push up the schedule due to the current situation, and we will conduct recommended track rope slipping and bollard repair throughout this summer and fall.”

The remaining operations will be adjusted and staggered. First, the Bridger Gondola will open for sightseeing Saturday, May 30. Off-Piste Market and General Store will be open for takeaway.

Jackson Hole Sports, Teton Village Sports, Rodeo, and the downtown Resort Store off Jackson’s Town Square will open May 23. JHMR plans to open more of its summer operations in Teton Village later in June, including the Via Ferrata and Teewinot Chairlift to service the Jackson Hole Bike Park.

Base area activities, like the climbing wall, bungee trampoline and frisbee golf course, will be open as well as the Tin Can Cantina. Piste Mountain Bistro and The Deck are planned to open July 1. Off-Piste Market, Piste Mountain Bistro and The Deck will be open with additional health precautions.

At all retail facilities and during activities where social distancing cannot be maintained, masks will be required for all guests. Hand sanitizer will be readily available. JHMR will continually adjust operations and safety protocol as needed to reflect state and local health orders and protect staff and guests.
