Teton County Fair kicks off Friday

JACKSON, Wyo. — The 2020 Teton County “locals” Fair kicks off this Friday, and it is not too late to enter in this weekend’s Horse Show events.

“The Open Horse Show provides a venue for all horse enthusiasts to come and participate,” said Teton County Fair and Fairgrounds Manager Rachel Grimes. “The Horse Shows offer a fun and safe environment which supports healthy competition and sportsmanship for all ages!”

The first weekend of Horse Show starts on Saturday, July 18 at 8:30 a.m. with the English Horse Show followed by the Western Dressage Show at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19. Both events will take place in the Rodeo Arena.

The closing date for entering the English and Western Dressage Horse Shows is Thursday, July 16 at 5:00 p.m., and the closing date for the Team Ranch Sorting event is Friday, July 17 at 5:00 p.m. The closing date for the Second Annual Bev Halpin Memorial Team Branding Event is Thursday, July 23 at 5:00 p.m. There are two divisions: Open and Mixed Nuts. There will be $500 in added money for the Open division.

“Whether you’re into more of a formal show, or ranch-oriented, it is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to have fun and show off their horsemanship skills,” said Grimes. Spectators are invited to watch the Horse Shows for free from the Rodeo stands but are encouraged to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

Those interested in entering the English, Western Dressage, Showmanship and Halter Class, and the Western Non-Por classes can do so online at the Teton County Fair website. To enter Team Ranch Sorting, call Shelley Martinez at 307-733-5289. Entry fees for all Horse Show events vary. Please check the website for more information.
