TCSD#1 talks Elementary math

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – TCSD will host a Mathematical Mindset Information Session at Munger Mountain Elementary School Tuesday, October 2, from 5-7pm. The information session will provide parents an idea of how their students are learning math, and what is different compared to when they were in elementary school.

TCSD educators will share information with parents about the recent shifts in mathematics education and why it’s better for their children, the importance of developing a mathematical mindset, how to cultivate it in students, and how to help their students with mathematics at home.

“The most successful 6th grade students have worked on their mathematical mindset and believe they can grow in math. These students have an increased motivation and are not afraid to make mistakes, so they are willing to dive into the math and persevere when problem solving,” said sixth grade teacher Heather Harrington. “It is evident to me that the mathematical mindset work being done at the elementary level is making a difference as more students are entering middle school with this attitude.”

The information sessions will be provided in both English and Spanish.
