JACKSON HOLE, WYO \u2014 Students with the Jackson Hole High School Choir\/Band\/Orchestra returned from the Southwest District Festival with \u2018Superior\u2019 ratings in performance. The groups were judged on tone, rhythm, intonation, and other factors including musicianship. Students received high marks in all categories. Students performed works by Vivaldi, Debussy, Eric Whitaker, JS Bach and Chopin. Soloist included Colin Reese, Nova Lopez and Caroline Monroe on violin. Connor Weeks, Emily Ransom, Alexia Carmichael, River Gayton, Rosalie Daval and Josh Hanson represented the choir program. Band soloist included Annika and Jamison Peackock on piano and Kahlan Wilson on flute. All the students gained valuable experiences in performance and adjudication. Music programs from Star Valley, Evanston, Cokeville, Big Piney, Pinedale, and Mountain View participated in the festival. See and hear The Jackson Hole Middle and High School Orchestras will present their annual Spring Concert next Wednesday, May 29, beginning at 6pm in the JH High School Auditorium. The Jackson Hole Middle School Orchestras will open up with the 6th grade performing beginning classical music and a few exciting and new orchestral arrangements including Dragon Slayer\u00a0and Asobu\u00a0(a Japanese inspired piece meaning "play"). The 7th grade will feature Skaters Waltz, Canyon Sunset,\u00a0and Thunderstruck. The 8th grade will perform Symphony No. 4\u00a0by William Boyce, Memory\u00a0from the musical CATS\u00a0and a tango piece titled Baila Conmigo (Spanish for Dance With Me). Solos and duets will be featured throughout the concert. At 7:30pm, the Jackson Hole High School Orchestra will open up with Themes from the Moldau\u00a0by Bedrich Smetena, followed by Concerto alla Rustica\u00a0by Antonio Vivaldi, and a unique string arrangement of Sweet Dreams are Made of This\u00a0by the Eurythmics. The concert is free so come out and support these 140 talented young musicians.
