Support healing for wounded veterans through Old Bill’s

JACKSON, Wyo. — 21st Century Heroes is a non-profit in Jackson that pays to bring wounded veterans to town to participate in woodcarving and art workshops, for the purpose of healing, supplying the veterans with tools and the knowledge to continue their healing into their home lives.

Their goal is to assist returning servicemen and women by providing training in a series of programs teaching creative arts and skills with the goal of restoring to them a quality of life within their communities and their families.

21st Century Heroes has been doing two camps per year in the spring and fall but were unable to do that this year due to Coronavirus. As a result, they are in need of funding to expand their spring options to a Woodcarving Week and an Intro to Art for Women workshop.

21st Century Heroes provides an all-inclusive experience for the veteran including transportation, accommodation, and meals. They are encouraged to commune with fellow veterans and to experience the full beauty of Jackson Hole. everything a veteran needs, not only for this experience but for a future with his or her chosen craft, transportation, a place to stay and commune with fellow veterans, meals and time in the beauty of Jackson Hole.

One of 21st Century Heroes’ core values is that this is not just a nice trip to JH! It’s the hope that each veteran take home the skills and a new passion for their chosen craft.

Their veterans have reported that this has been a life-changing experience and a great tool for wellness. “To look at things with different eyes, just like in woodcarving, taking a piece of wood that looks plain and turning it in something. We can do that with ourselves,” said one of the 2018 Veteran participants.

Old Bill’s donations to 21st Century Heroes will go toward:

  • Veteran travel, housing, food and transportation
  • Tools and instruction

21st Century Heroes is extremely grateful to the individuals and business partners who support them through monetary and in-kind donations. Through new and continued support from their advocates, 21st Century Heroes will further expand their programming to benefit more veterans.
