JACKSON, Wyo. — Wildland firefighters pounced on a small forest fire near Hoback Junction last week.

The 8.5-acre Cow Creek Fire was first spotted Thursday, August 6. It is believed to be a ‘holdover’ from lightning several days earlier. Teton Helitack firefighters along with an interagency helicopter and a smokejumper team were assigned to the fire, approximately three miles east of Hoback Junction burning in a drainage between Cow Creek and Bull Creek.
