Russian Club takes a deep dive on socialism

JACKSON, Wyo. — Socialism. It’s the talk of the nation right now. From the self-described democratic socialist Bernie Sanders to a growing worldview, there’s a lot of hype — and misunderstanding — about the ideology. A frank discussion on “What is Socialism?” seems apropos.

The public is invited to a timely presentation titled: “What is Socialism?” The event is free and will take place Monday, February 24, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Snow King Grand Teton Ballroom.

The guest speaker will be University of Wyoming Doctor Brent Pickett. He is an Associate Dean and Professor of Political Science at the UW Casper campus. Prof. Pickett has a Ph.D in political science from the University of Colorado Boulder. He has been a visiting professor at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia; Ludwigsburg University in Ludwigsburg, Germany and at Shanghai University in Shanghai China.

Host of the presentation, Russian Club of Jackson Hole, assures the talk will be politically neutral, strictly an opportunity to learn about socialism—what it is, its history, and how it differs from other systems. It will not advocate for any point of view.
