Moose finally lose one, splitting a pair with Vail in Colorado

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Jackson Hole Moose tasted defeat for the first time this season last weekend after splitting a pair with the Vail Yeti at the Dobson Arena in Colorado. Jackson’s record is now 5-1.

The Moose took command of Friday night’s contest after both teams came out cautiously. After a scoreless first period, the Moose tallied twice in the second and added two more in the third for a 4-1 win.

The Moose got goals from Sage Welch, Drew Akins, and Nate Goss-Woliner. Goaltender Nick Krauss stopped 36 of 37 shots he faced.

Saturday night it was the Spencer Gold show as the Vail goaltender stopped 45 shots (if you follow the Yeti stat sheet) or 39 shots (going by the Moose scoring card). Jackson couldn’t buy a goal after falling behind 2-0 after the first period. Tom Hartnett finally got the Moose on the score sheet but it wasn’t enough as Vail potted 3 more for a 5-1 win.

The Moose are off this weekend. Their next scheduled games are with the Sun Valley Suns December 14-15 at home at the Snow King Sports and Event Center.
