JACKSON, Wyo. \u2014 The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Flood Watch for areas below 7,000 feet in the Jackson Hole Valley as well as Star Valley due to warm temperatures and the potential for rain-on-snow. The watch is valid from Friday night through Saturday night. Temperatures rose into the 50s on Friday afternoon and similar temperatures are expected Saturday, along with low elevation rain developing in the late afternoon and evening hours before eventually changing to snow late Saturday night. According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, the ground in many areas is still frozen which will cause low lying areas to fill with water very quickly. Low lying areas may become inundated with a noticeable increase in snowmelt runoff. Snowmelt and runoff concerns will gradually ease on Sunday and Monday as cooler temperatures arrive.
