Fins & Fiddles hootenanny benefits Teton River & Targhee Music Camp

VICTOR, IDAHO – Celebrating rivers and roots music is as easy as apple pie in Teton Valley. Benefitting and hosted by Friends of the Teton River and Targhee Music Camp, Fins & Fiddles is a family friendly evening featuring fishy vendor booths, raffle prizes, and live music from Eli West, Eric Thorin, & Mike Witcher as well as Teton Valley’s The Balsamroots, Masontown and Folk Songs for Children set with Thomas Sneed special guest nine-year old Nolan Strupeck. The event runs 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Knotty Pine in Victor.

Many folks will recognize multi-instrumentalist Eli West and bassist Eric Thorin as talented collaborators with Ben Winship and as instructors at Targhee Music Camp. Mike Witcher is a much-in-demand session dobroist that has collaborated with Dwight Yoakam, Dolly Parton, Peter Rowan and many others with several appearances at the Grand Ole Opry and Prairie Home Companion.

Five-piece Colorado acoustic project Masontown brings together an interesting amalgam of musical personalities: a veteran bluegrass mandolin player and composer, one of Colorado’s jazz guitar greats reborn as a flatpicking sensation, a versatile and innovative five-string and clawhammer banjoist, and an upright bassist with roots running deep in the classical and jazz traditions.

Fins & Fiddles hootenanny, BBQ and benefit, 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, outside at the Knotty Pine in Victor. $10 suggested donation, kids are free. For more information, contact email [email protected] or 208-354-3871, or KnottyPineSupperClub.com.
