Swim-A-Thon 2019 To Support Education for Teton Valley Youth
Swim Laps to Benefit Lives
Driggs, Idaho (September 9, 2019) Teton Valley Aquatics (TVA), a Teton Valley non-profit, is hosting
their second annual Swim-A-Thon at Jackson, Wyoming’s Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center. On
October 26th, 2019, join us in swimming laps for a cause. TVA will be hosting individuals and teams to
swim laps and earn money to benefit TVA’s programming for the coming year. Sponsors can give per lap,
give individually, sponsor a team or an individual. Individuals can sign up themselves, or create a team to
swim with to earn sponsorships and donations. TVA asks community members to become fundraisers,
swim teams, and donors to raise money for learn-to swim programs for all children in Teton Valley.
100% of the funds collected will go directly towards programs that build a healthier and safer community –
a cause we can all be proud to rally around. Your contributions to our organization help change lives
through expanded learn-to-swim programs and recreation opportunities. TVA is creating programs that
address high at-risk swimmer rates and barriers to access in our community. It is because of donations
like yours we can launch programs such as Winter Sports swim lessons. 140 children (100 more than last
year, thanks to our community’s contributions) participated in swim lessons, and the majority experienced
swimming for the first time. Additionally, we launched the Josh the Otter Water Safety Campaign in
partnership with the Joshua Collingsworth Memorial Foundation and Silverstar Communications
Community Cares Program. TVA reached over 300 pre-k and kindergarten students through this
interactive program that taught kids how to be safe around water through story, song and activities. “Our
goal is for every child in Teton County to be empowered with the life saving and life enriching skill of
swimming,” said TVA Executive Director Katie McNamara.
Teton Valley Aquatics believes in a community with access and opportunity to live their fullest, healthiest
lives, and where everyone has basic swimming and life saving skills. We are working to give our
community access this essential life skill, spend quality time in the water with family, and improve
well-being through aquatic fitness.
