The 2018 event will kick off with a Law Enforcement Torch Run through the community of Jackson starting at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6th. Law Enforcement and athletes will carry the Flame of Home to the Winter Games Opening Ceremony at Jackson Hole High School that begins at 7:00 pm.
The Opening Ceremony, at Jackson Hole High School, is where all of the athletes, Unified Sports partners, coaches and volunteers will gather to introduce the competing teams, recite the coaches, officials and athletes oath, share some inspiring words and celebrate the lighting of the “Flame of Hope”. There will also be hundreds of handmade scarves, donated from crocheters and knitters throughout Wyoming and across the country, handed out at this time. Look for an amazing show of unity through black, grey and white scarves around the necks of Special Olympics Wyoming athletes, Unified Sports partners, coaches, families and volunteers throughout the valley during the games! Competition will begin at 9:00 am on Wednesday, February 7th at various competition sites and run through 4:00 pm. The Snow King Resort Hotel will host a 50’s Sock Hop themed banquet and victory dance at 6:00 Wednesday night. Competition resumes at 9:30 on Thursday, February 8th until completion at approximately 2:00. Awards will be presented immediately following competition at each location.
