St. John’s Episcopal Church and Community Safety Network are partnering again for the 2nd annual “Reframing the Lens: Changing How We Watch” film series.
The screenings this year will focus on sexual violence, victim blaming and how, as a culture, we tend to regard survivors with skepticism and doubt. We hope to engage a conversation about reframing our perspectives around sexual violence in our communities and shifting our collective response to be trauma-informed and based in believing. The film screenings will be January 19th , February 23rd, and March 15th .
Please join us at St. John’s Hansen Hall for the first screening on January 19 at 5:00. We will view the first two episodes of the 8-part Netflix, Unbelievable, a drama based on true events about a retracted rape allegation that allowed the perpetrator to continue to assault victims for three more years.
We will view the first two episodes together and afterward CSN advocates will host a discussion.
The event is FREE and open to the public. Snacks provided! A discussion will follow each viewing. *Please be advised that the screening will contain mature and explicit content that may be disturbing for some viewers. Please use discretion (recommended to viewers 16 years of age and older). For more information, please contact [email protected]
