How to release a loaded auto-block belay device and 3:1 raise
June 13 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FREE CLINC 2 OF 4
FREE RAFFLE! Climbers who participate in the clinic will get 1 raffle ticket. We will raffle off 1 ATOM LT HOODY at 8:00PM
This 2 hour FREE seminar is designed to teach you how to properly release a loaded auto-block belay device once your partner has fallen on to it. The example would be that your are belaying off the anchor with a Petzl Reverso or Black Diamond ATC Guide, your partner has fallen, they can’t unweight the rope and needs to be lowered. They may not be able to get back on the rock or could be injured. If you aren’t belaying off the anchor with an auto-block device…..why not? There are several methods and considerations for each technique. You may need to lower them a short distance or longer distance back to a ledge. Learn which methods to use for each situation and HOW TO BACK THEM UP! Exum Guides will walk you through the different considerations and steps to help you manage these situations. You will also have the opportunity to practice how to apply a 3:1 raise to help your climbing partner get through a hard section or raise them in case of an emergency.
This clinic would serve as a foundational building block of “How to Escape a Belay”……Coming soon!
