Eastbound trailer ban starts today

JACKSON, Wyo. — Trucks towing trailers can head west over the pass for another month, but can’t come back.

After several incidents on Teton Pass, including one that closed the truck arrestor, WYDOT made the call to ban eastbound trailer traffic earlier this month. The closure starts today, a month earlier than generally scheduled.

Trailers will be prohibited in both directions November 15 until April 1.

Wyoming Highway Patrol will be strictly enforcing the current trailer and weight restrictions and will continue to make Teton Pass a priority for routine patrols. Any vehicles with a hitched trailer illegally accessing Teton Pass will be found in violation of running a road closure and subject to fines. WYDOT will also be installing a mobile variable message board with the closure messaging for added awareness.
