JACKSON HOLE, WYO – As the Wyoming Cowboys lament the loss of their superstar quarterback Josh Allen to the NFL draft, they can take solace in another Josh: Dawson.
Josh Dawson, the standout two-way football player from the Star Valley Braves committed to play for the Cowboys beginning in 2020 after he spends two years in the field for his LDS mission service.
Following in his older brother’s footsteps, Josh expects to find a role waiting for him in the Pokes backfield at a time when Theo—the all-state Jackson Broncs gridder who racked up 5,132 yards and 55 TDs in his high school career—will be a junior.
Coach Craig Bohl reportedly envisions an all-Dawson backfield with Theo at tailback and Josh at fullback. That should be a frightening thought for the rest of the Mountain West!
Theo Dawson will report to UW this summer in preparation for the 2018-19 season. He should see significant playing time depending on how quickly he gets up to speed after being out of football for two years.
Josh Dawson transferred to the Star Valley Braves after playing two years with the Broncs as a freshman and sophomore. He helped the Braves to a state title in 2016 and was named to the Casper Star Tribune’s Super 25 Team in 2017.
