CWC offers RBT certification course

JACKSON, WY— Behavioral therapists, social workers, teachers, paraprofessionals: Take your career to the next level with a certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). All you need is a computer.

From March 5-May 14, individuals seeking RBT certification can take a training course on principles and procedures, culminating in a certification test. Instruction delivery is a combination of online coursework and GoToMeeting modules.

What’s an RBT?

An RBT is a behavioral interventionist who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA.) The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services. This credential is recognized internationally as a way to provide direct behavioral therapy to support individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities. This credential could also be used to help better understand behavioral concerns and improve the quality of behavioral supports. For example, parents, teachers, therapists, counselors, social workers, paraprofessionals and other individuals who directly support children or adults with behavioral concerns may benefit from this course. This course includes lectures and application activities in ethics, observation and data collection, skill acquisition plans and procedures, and behavior reduction plans and procedures. This course is based on the Behavior Analyst Certified Board (BACB) RBT Task List and is designed to meet or exceed the 40-hour training requirement for the RBT credential. The program is offered independently of the BACB.

Instructional Methodology

This course will use a combination of class lectures and discussion, video modules, quizzes, and application activities where individuals are provided with opportunities to practice the skills they learn (e.g., writing behavioral support plans).
