Cowboy wrestlers grab two Big 12 titles

WYOMING – What a year it’s been for Wyoming Cowboy Wrestling. For the first time since joining the Big 12, Wyoming had two grapplers win championships last weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Bryce Meredith (UW Wrestling)

UW seniors Bryce Meredith and Archie Colgan both won conference titles.

Meredith, wrestling at 141 pounds, defeated two-time defending national champ Dean Heil from Oklahoma State by a 6-5 score. It was the second time Meredith beat Heil this season. Meredith was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the meet.

Archie Colgan (UW Wrestling)

Colgan, in the 157-lb weight class, went 3-0 at the tournament, capping the meet with a championship win over No. 1 ranked Clay Ream of North Dakota State.

Next for Wyoming’s Meredith and Colgan is an invitation to the NCAA national championship March 15-17 in Cleveland.
