JACKSON, Wyo. — Police say a man recently sentenced and released for criminal trespass was arrested again just days later on similar charges.
Brian Bentley, 47, was arrested by Jackson Police officers last Friday night after refusing to leave the Good Samaritan Mission where he had been staying since his release from jail.
Bentley was sentenced last Tuesday to time served after spending five and a half months behind bars on charges of criminal entry and criminal trespass. According to the Jackson Hole News&Guide, Bentley’s troubles stemmed from stalking behavior where he allegedly texted and visited a 15-year-old girl in behavior her father said became “creepy.”
The Jackson transient, whose last permanent address is Salt Lake City, apparently became belligerent while using the laundry facilities at the Mission. Police were first called to the Mission 6:43 p.m.
Officer Ed Gerlach reported contacting Bentley and another man. He learned there had been some kind of argument and that disagreement had turned hostile. Gerlach warned Bentley to leave the premises and not return.
A little over an hour later, at 8:07 p.m., Bentley returned to the Mission and police were again called. This time, Gerlach arrested Bentley on a misdemeanor trespassing charge after he reportedly told the officer he had nowhere else to go, and jail was the best place for him right now.
