Community Foundation spearheads grant to fight child hunger

JACKSON, Wyo. — No child in Teton County should go hungry.

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis and amid all of the uncertainty, the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole has provided support for collaborative efforts to feed children and families through donations made to the Community Emergency Response Fund. Thanks to two anonymous donors, the Foundation’s reach just extended even further.

Two anonymous donors created a generous challenge of $50,000 to help feed children throughout the summer. Donations made to the Community Emergency Response Fund this week qualify to match, so donors double their impact. All donors need to do is donate by June 6 and designate the gift by noting “food.”

Twenty percent of the student population in Teton County receives free or reduced-cost meals during the school year. Summertime makes it especially hard for children experiencing food insecurity to find a meal. It is now more important than ever to help ensure all children in Teton County have access to food. Any gift of any size makes a difference in this challenge.

We’re trying to get the word out about a $50,000 food challenge grant within the Community Emergency Response Fund to ensure that all children in Teton County have access to food this summer. A gift of any size makes a difference to this challenge.

This is a collaborative fundraising effort with Hole Food Rescue, Teton County School District/the Fund for Public Education, and the Head Start program at Children’s Learning Center.
