JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Ice Cube, Notorious B.I.G., Snoop, Tupac, Dre—household names of classic hip-hop and rap that made such an impression on popular music, especially to ” The MTV Generation.” Seven local musicians and a ringer emcee from L.A. will treat locals to a live night of hip-hop classics this Friday at the Mangy Moose. Dubbed “Gin & Juice at the Moose,” it’s sure to be one of the highlights of College Rendezvous in Teton Village this weekend.
The core band includes Canyon Kids members Dusty Nichols on electric guitar and John Wayne Harris Jr. on drums, bassist Leif Routman (Whiskey Mornin’) and keyboardist/saxophonist Joe Rudd (Goldcone) featuring the vocal and emcee talents of J. Whiting (Whiting Productions), Taylor Upton (Whiskey Mornin’), Hilary Camino (Whiskey Mornin’) and Bo Elledge (Canyon Kids).
“Leif and I have been fantasizing about a night like this for years and bouncing the idea off band members, but it didn’t seem feasible until recently,” Nichols explained, who spearheaded the event with Routman and Rudd. “As you’d probably guess, there’s not a plethora of emcees in this town. Once Joe moved to town and established himself, it brings a whole new element to pulling off a show like this. He has some L.A. connections and knew J, who will be emceeing a bulk of the material. It’ll be a party!”
Crafty poster art from Orijin Media and special drinks from JH Stillworks adds to the local flavor.
