JACKSON, WY — White House adviser and daughter to the President Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner are in Jackson today for a lunch fundraiser in support of President Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee.
Former vice president Richard B. Cheney and his daughter, Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney are also in town for the event, according to a report from The Washington Post.
Ivanka Trump posted a photo on Twitter Friday afternoon standing in a field of sage and Musk Thistle that looks an awful lot like Jackson captioned “Where the wild things are…” The internet was quick to point out that Musk Thistle is an invasive species.
Federal law prohibits administration officials from campaigning in their official capacities, but the invitation obtained by The Washington Post says Ivanka Trump and Kushner’s “participation in the event is not a solicitation of funds.”
The fundraiser is for Trump Victory, a joint committee that raises money for Trump’s reelection campaign and the RNC, The Washington Post says. Buckrail does not have an invite list to the event however The Washington Post reports that GOP donor and owner of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Jay Kemmerer and his wife, Karen are expected to attend. Local donors from Jackson, Wilson, and Teton Village have contributed more than $500,000 to the committee since 2016.
