Bye bye bike bollards – for week of fair

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The bike bollards on Snow King Ave are coming down.

But only temporarily.

The town council approved the removal of the delineators on Snow King between Flat Creek Drive and South Milward for one week during the county fair—July 22-29.

The request came from the Teton County Fairboard, worried about heavy truck traffic that is part and parcel of putting on a fair that includes a rodeo, concert, and numerous vendors.

“Large truck-and-trailer rigs will be utilizing Snow King Avenue to access the Teton County Fairgrounds, and the wayside of Snow King Avenue provides much-needed parking for vehicles critical to the fair and spectators,” wrote Emily Feuz Beardsley, chair of the fairboard, in an email to the council. “We politely request that the bollards be removed from Sunday, July 22 through Sunday, July 29.”

Pathways Coordinator Brian Schilling didn’t think it would be a big problem for Public Works to pull the poles—maybe two hours of staff time to pull, and two hours again to replace.
