JACKSON HOLE, WYO –  Welcome to Buckrail 2.0! As of December 1st, 2017, Buckrail now has a local home in Jackson. We’re excited to introduce Buckrail’s new ownership team, Brian Modena and Brian Gulotta.

The Brians on a recent adventure in the New Zealand backcountry.

The Brians are tech entrepreneurs with deep roots in the Jackson community and together have worked in the digital space for more than 25 years. Modena, a Jackson resident since 2004, owns local creative agency TMBR. Gulotta first came to Jackson in 2001 and now splits his time between San Francisco and Jackson. He brings more than 15 years of digital experience working with blue-ribbon companies like backcountry.com, Google and Pandora.

Since 2014, Buckrail has always been fast, free and digital. That will not change. Buckrail 2.0 will have an expanded editorial staff with media production specialists, additional community partners, and a whole set of new digital tools for our readers.

Previously, Buckrail was owned & operated by Lander-based Pitchengine. Jason Kintzler, Founder and CEO of Pitchengine, had this to say about the transition :

“It’s bittersweet, but it’s the best thing for Buckrail as a brand and the community as a whole. I think we’ve built something pretty special here — an entirely new format and model for local news in communities across Wyoming.”

He also added, “With Buckrail specifically, everyone said it couldn’t be done in Jackson. I think we’ve proven them wrong. That’s kind of in our nature at Pitchengine. Now, it’s going to be in capable, creative, and trustworthy hands and I’m excited to see where these guys take the brand and all it’s potential.”

Buckrail has always been, and will continue to be, Jackson’s source for community news. We publish news and stories that directly affect our everyday lives. We are a catalyst to strengthen community values and support local organizations. We help make that fundraiser a huge success and get those lost dogs back home to their worried owners. We let you know why your internet is out or why you’re stuck in traffic (again). We are not national news or long form editorial content, Jackson already has a great local paper for that.

So What Does The Future Look Like?

In the digital age, people consume news differently than they did just a few years ago. We are currently deploying new and emerging technologies while increasing our editorial and media production staff. These upgrades will bring positive change community wide in terms of how we get, and read, the news that really matters to our community.

If we do our job right, you will see pay walls crumble, news delivered faster and more accurately, and cutting edge local news apps. You will have top rate journalism and engaging local stories all at your fingertips.

Buckrail is honored to now call Jackson home and we look forward to serving you by being the digital resource for local news and community updates.

Sincerely,
