BREAKING: Did a tornado just hit Marbleton?

SUBLETTE COUNTY, WYO – Several reports all appear to collaborate a tornado touched down on East 6th street in Marbleton, Wyo., around midday today. Reports vary on the size of the twister but damage has been reported. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area while emergency responders finish assessment and cleanup efforts get underway.

Sublette County Sheriff’s Office PIO Administrative Sgt. Travis Bingham confirmed the event as, indeed, a tornado. Damage reported included  vehicles upended and mobile homes with structural damage. No injuries have been reported. However there are over 1,000 customers without power. Rocky Mountain Power is aware of the situation and is on scene reporting downed lines.

Please continue to avoid the area surrounding East 6th Street in Marbleton until it is safe to return.

The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed the event. A weather forecast for today called for the possibility of severe thunderstorms in the Big Piney/Marbleton area. A special weather statement in effect from the National Weather Service for Sublette County until 9pm tonight calls for more severe storms to move through the area. Some of these storms could be packing winds from 45-60 miles per hour with large hail as well.
