BREAKING: Avalanche in Hoback Canyon closes highway

SUBLETTE COUNTY, WYO –

UPDATE (1:04pm): US 191 has reopened.

WYDOT is reporting an avalanche on US 191 has closed the highway in both directions between Bondurant and Hoback Junction. Buckrail has confirmed the slide occurred at Cow of the Woods, a known avalanche-prone area. Authorities are estimating it will take a few hours to clear. No one was reported injured in the event.

In other news, travel on WY28 is closed between Farson and the Fremont-Sublette County line due to winter conditions. Authorities don’t expect this stretch of road will be opened until perhaps tomorrow.

In Idaho, state police are reporting numerous callouts on Highway 26 as snow, and blowing snow have limited visibility. No unnecessary travel is advised there.

US 30/I-80 intersection is also closed in both directions between Exit 111, Airport and Baxter Roads and Point of Rocks near Rock Springs due to a crash.
