Bison causing occasional travel concerns on US 89

JACKSON, Wyo. — Here we go again.

Bison along North Highway 89 have been an issue in winters past. A fragment herd of isolated buffalo have made a habit of becoming trapped from any forage-able habitat as winter snow piles up.

This group is at it again, occasionally blocking traffic on US 89 between Moose Junction and Elk Ranch Flats. Bison have been spotted in recent days on or adjacent to the road in various locations between those points. Visibility can be extremely limited when blowing snow is in the forecast.

Motorists are asked to please exercise caution when traveling this stretch of highway.
