Affordable Housing Department improves the process for those waiting

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Jackson/Teton County Affordable Housing Department released the first Intake Form Report this week, as well as a new text notification tool for interested residents to learn about future weighted drawings for affordable housing units.

“Both of these items are part of our ongoing efforts to provide clear, accessible information to the community,” said April Norton, Affordable Housing Department Director. “Continual community engagement and transparency are incredibly important priorities for the Department that help us work to meet the housing needs of the local workforce.”

The text notification system provides text alerts for anyone interested in hearing about weighted drawings (formerly known as the housing lottery system). To sign up, simply text “HOMEJH” to 88202. Those that have already completed the online Intake Form will be automatically signed up for this service but can opt out at any time. Notifications will be provided in English or Spanish.

The online Intake Form was launched in January 2018. It is designed to create a single point of entry for anyone interested in deed restricted housing programs through the Town and County. In addition to streamlining the application process, the Intake Form provides important information related to income levels, family size, and employment trends that will help the department better understand demand in order to build units that are most needed.
