WYOMING — For 40 years the Riverton Rendezvous has seen hot air balloons take to the sky.
The rendevous includes music, food, community street dances, a car and bike cruise night, a parade, and tops off with the balloon launches.
This year, there will be 30 balloons in the sky with pilots from Oregon, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Illinois, and Wyoming. The balloons will be taking off from the CWC soccer fields early in the morning Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19.
Riverton Rendezvous started in 1981 when the community was looking for a special event to honor its 75th anniversary. Bob Peck, publisher of the Riverton Ranger at that time, asked his son for ideas and he suggested a balloon rally. The Riverton Rendezvous was created.
This rally continues to be a favorite of hot air balloon pilots because of our stellar weather and the people of Riverton who welcome the pilots each year.
