WYOMING – This week in 1941 George Hopkins did the unthinkable.

Without seeking permission from the National Park Service, or even notifying them of his intent to parachute onto the top of Devils Tower, Hopkins did just that. All went as planned. He boarded a plane, flew over the site, and stuck the landing. One problem: He couldn’t get down.
