School test flap hits the alt-right fan
JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Ultra-right website www.SilenceisConsent.com dug up an AP story about the Jackson Hole high school English teacher who is in hot water locally for administering a quiz that included an answer choice that could be construed as advocating for assassinating the President.
In a post to a fake POTUS Facebook page, Silence is Consent headlined its story, “Teacher gives an ‘assassinate trump’ quiz—look at the question she asked students (video).”
Jon Anthony begins his piece: “Ever since President Trump was elected as President, liberal teachers all over the nation have worked tirelessly to brainwash students into hating him. While you would expect them to uphold the values of education, unfortunately, many do not.”
The story also included imbedded video from a Los Angeles CBS TV affiliate covering the now-national news story. News anchor Matt Yurus mispronounced “Teton” in saying TCSD#1 officials apologized for the inappropriate answer choice.
The teacher, Carin Aufderheide, has stated she did not write the test but downloaded it from a school site. TCSD#1 would not say where the test question came from or who wrote it. School administration has also not said what, if any, measures have been taken against Aufderheide.
